Customer self-exclusion and responsible gambling

Last updated: Mar 12, 2026 | 1 min read | Customers & Accounts

Responsible gambling features are important for UK raffle operators. Basecomp provides self-exclusion tools that your customers can use directly from their account.

How self-exclusion works

A customer can block themselves from your store by going to Account → Self-Exclusion on your storefront. They choose a duration (30, 90, or 180 days, or permanently) and confirm. Once blocked:

  • They cannot purchase tickets on your store
  • Their account remains accessible for order history, but checkout is disabled
  • They receive a confirmation email with information about gambling support services

As a store operator

You can view and manage self-exclusions in Customers → Self-Exclusions. You can manually exclude a customer if you have a welfare concern. You cannot remove a self-exclusion requested by a customer before it expires — this is by design to protect vulnerable customers.

Signposting support

Basecomp automatically links to GamCare and BeGambleAware in the self-exclusion flow. We recommend also including a responsible gambling statement in your store footer.
