Creating a raffle from scratch

Last updated: Mar 12, 2026 | 2 min read | Raffles & Draws

A raffle in Basecomp is built from several components: basic details, prizes, ticket settings, and a draw configuration. You can save a draft at any point and come back to it later.

Basic details

Give your raffle a clear name and a compelling description. The name appears prominently on your storefront and in all customer emails. The description should tell customers exactly what they could win and why they should enter.

Upload a high-quality featured image (recommended 1200 × 800 px). This is the main image shown on raffle cards and share previews.

Categories

Assign your raffle to one or more store categories (e.g. Cars, Tech, Holidays). Categories help customers browse your storefront and can improve conversion when used consistently.

Prizes

Every raffle needs at least one main prize. Go to the Prizes tab and click Add Prize. Enter the prize name, retail value, and optionally enable a cash alternative (typically retail price minus 20% VAT).

Tickets

Set the ticket price, maximum tickets per customer, and total ticket supply. The total supply determines when the draw triggers automatically if you are using automated draws.

Draw settings

Choose between an automated draw (triggers at a specific date, or when all tickets are sold) or a live draw (you trigger it manually, ideal for streaming). See the dedicated draw article for more detail.
